Active Creative is proud to be celebrating 10 years as one of the biggest providers of creative, physical, dance, music and PE based activities for 2-12 year olds in the country with their first Quality in Study Standards (QiSS) Award, achieving Emerged status.

Endorsed by the Department of Education and delivered with support of the Faculty of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University, the QiSS award is designed to support schools and other educational providers through a process of quality assurance; guiding programme delivery, development and assessment and enabling companies such as Active Creative to be confident in their ability to meet the needs of a wide range of learners, families and partners.

Gaining their Emerged status with QiSS is an exciting step forward for Active Creative, who have been running their Dinky Dancers, Boogaloo Boogie, Motion Commotion and The Performing Arts Club workshops and classes in schools, Early Years centres, and community venues around the country for a decade now.

The Active Creative ethos is to keep “Making Movement Matter” through programmes that enrich, enable and extend all learners in a fun, physical and accessible way and QiSS has played a vital role in acknowledging the quality of the educational programmes the company delivers and the contribution these play in raising pupil achievement and participation through extra curricular activity that is educational, social, physical and creative.

Lorry Edwards, Director of Active Creative commented on the reflective benefits of undertaking the QiSS journey,

“Embarking on QiSS with Annie New (our Critical Friend), encouraging and supporting us, as we paused and reflected upon our impact on learning and then assisting us as we addressed areas we could improve upon and celebrated what we do well, has been a great opportunity and given us the confidence to be proud of our contribution to extended learning opportunities.”

Active Creative run one-day workshops, in-curricular classes, weekly lunchtime and afterschool clubs and community classes across many areas of England and the Welsh borders.
